Focus

The Institute of Carbon Neutrality and Green Development (CNGD) at Sun Yat-sen University, founded in December 2024, is led by the School of Environmental Science and Engineering with multidisciplinary collaboration. It focuses on carbon neutrality and green development, aiming to become a high-level think tank and R&D platform for “dual carbon” goals, offering systematic solutions and “SYSU wisdom” for the Greater Bay Area, China, and the world. CNGD follows a dual-track approach of “technology” and “strategy,” using innovation to guide decision-making and macro-strategies to drive breakthroughs, supporting the green transition and high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area.
The Institute emphasizes talent cultivation and interdisciplinary research, offering courses, training, and an integrated innovation chain across industry, academia, and governance. Leveraging regional strengths and global partnerships, CNGD strives for leadership in research, talent, and societal services, contributing to sustainable development and a greener future.
