Hosting the Opening Ceremony of the UAEU-SYSU Joint Research Fund Project

At 2:00 PM on November 11, 2024, the opening ceremony of the joint research funding program between United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) was held at Xueren Hall, South Campus of Sun Yat-sen University.  

The bilateral relations between China and the UAE have a long history. Both sides issued a joint statement, emphasizing the strengthening of the comprehensive strategic partnership and deepening cooperation in various fields.  

Previously, Sun Yat-sen University and United Arab Emirates University successfully signed an agreement on a joint research fund project (UAEU-SYSU Joint Fund Project), marking that the exchanges and cooperation between the two universities in the fields of higher education and scientific and technological innovation have reached a new height, jointly ushering in a new era of scientific research cooperation.  

The agreement stipulates that the two parties will jointly establish a research fund, focusing on scientific research in fields related to clean water and energy. They will promote scientific and technological innovation through joint research, academic exchanges and resource sharing, facilitate the transformation of academic achievements, strengthen international exchanges and cooperation between teachers and students of the two universities, and jointly cultivate talents with international perspective and competitiveness.  

It is worth noting that this is the first substantive cooperation between the United Arab Emirates University and a Chinese higher education institution, which is of milestone significance.
